Suicide was linked to head injuries suffered on the field. Todays report identifies brain abnormalities consistent with what is known as chronicti traumatic encephalopathy, or cte, which is caused by repetitive trauma to the brain. Dr. Russell lonzer oversaw the study. Individuals that have been found to have cte in the past, in some cases, have exhibited behaviors such as impulsivity, irritability, aggression, memory loss, and suicidal thoughts.
