What was considered an unusual competition setting for this type of event, Farmer Nappy along with ten other competitors performed without an audience at the National Academy for the Performing Arts, Port of Spain, in a pre-recorded final that aired on TV6 on Friday night. ....
Farmer Nappy has won the 2021 International Soca Monarch with his song “Backyard Jam”. The concert took place virtually Friday night, which was the date to be Fantastic Friday, when the competition is normally held. Carnival 2021 has been cancelled because of the COVID pandemic but some competitions are going on virtually. Olatunji placed second with “Drunk History” and Mical Teja and Viking Ding Dong placed third with “Hornin First”. Only artistes who are in Trinidad and Tobago were eligible to participate. The 11 competitors this year were Farmer Nappy, Preedy, Viking Ding Dong and Mical Teja, Trinidad Ghost, Trinidad Killa, Olatunji, Rome, Blaxx, Turner, Aaron Duncan and the lone female Melly Rose. ....
