Tularosa mayor says New Mexico cannabis legislation a 'fantastic idea'


Ultra Health CEO Duke Rodriguez called the Cannabis Regulation Act passage monumental.
The Cannabis Regulation Act will take effect 90 days after the 2021 First Special Session ends, which puts the effective date at about June 30.
Keep in mind, that doesn t mean that sales will commence on that date because the Act itself that was passed is (142 pages) and it covers a wide range of things including taxation, possession limits, fines and penalties, licensing requirements, a whole host of matters about distribution of taxes imposed, Rodriguez said.
Some parts of the Cannabis Regulation Act will go into effect on the day the Act is signed into law such as New Mexico Gross Receipts taxes no longer being applied to medical cannabis purchases, Rodriguez said. ....
