Iran has called for the British ambassador to show disapproval of Britain's recent accusations and sanctions against Iran.

India and the UK launched the talks for FTA in January 2022, with an aim to conclude talks by Diwali last year, but the deadline was missed due to political developments in the UK. There are 26 chapters in the agreement, which include goods, services, investments and intellectual property rights.

The two countries aim to conclude almost two years of talks and reach a commercial agreement. This deal would be significant for both nations, with Sunak using it as a benefit of Brexit and Modi gaining a boost as he prepares for an upcoming election. While most points of contention have been resolved, political decisions still need to be made on pending issues. The window for finalizing the deal is small due to next year's national polls in India.

Praising the "vibrant" culture and diversity of India that has been attracting people from all over the world, the UK envoy, said, "India is a unique country to bring the world to it. And, India has always fascinated the rest of the world, because of this (art, culture)... because of its different shapes and styles, colours, and it attracts people".
