Maharashtra has added 62,097 new cases to its tally on Tuesday, Mumbai reported a slight dip, recording 7,214 new cases.Class 10 board exams were cancelled with the Education Minister taking to Twitter to make the announcement. At the state cabinet meeting, many ministers suggested the state push for a harder lockdown for another fortnight since the numbers were still rising. The decision has been left to CM Uddhav Thackeray. It will also be the first day when new grocery store timings kick in. Visits to the grocery store are now limited to just 4 hours in the morning. Major fire breaks out at a godown in Goregaon East


Mumbai: A major fire broke out in the
Goregaon East area near Ratnagiri Hotel on Tuesday.
The blaze erupted around 6:52 pm. Initially, the fire was termed to be a level two. However, later it was declared as level three.
A fire was reported in Samna Parivar locality and is restricted to a few scrap godowns and shanties over an area of 15,000-20,000 square feet, and it continued to rage at midnight.
Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries from the incident.
Eight fire engines and seven JT were rushed to the spot. Four more engines were sent for the fire-fighting operation. A total of 12 fire engines are at the spot. The fire extinguishing work is in progress till late at night.

Mumbai city has reported 1,500 plus new COVID-19 cases for the second day in a row and more than 1,000 cases for the ninth straight day, amid rising concerns. The cases peaked in September-October, after which there was a decline but since mid-February infections have surged again. On Thursday, the city reported 1,508 new coronavirus cases, taking its case tally to 3,38,631, while the death toll in the city reached 11,515 with four more fatalities. As many as 911 patients recovered, taking the number of recoveries to 3,14,257. There are 11,969 active COVID-19 cases in Mumbai now. Thane, Kalyan-Dombivali too continues to report huge cases. Whereas, a week-long lockdown has also been imposed in Nagpur.

Mumbai: As the second phase of the
coronavirus vaccination drive began in
Mumbai on Monday, beneficiaries had to face several inconveniences related to the CoWIN portal and many were even asked to return home at the
Mulund Jumbo Centre.
Citizens above 60 years of age and those above 45 with co-morbidities are eligible to get inoculated during the second phase. They were asked to get themselves registered in advance on the Centre's CoWIN 2.0 portal, however, several people complained that their names did not show up on the portal at the Centre even after registering.

Dharavi records 11 new covid-19 cases, tally reaches 4085

A senior Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official said that there are 59 active cases currently in the locality. Considered the biggest slum settlement in Asia, Dharavi has, so far, reported 3,710 recoveries.

Amid rising COVID-19 cases in Mumbai and the state, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has asked the state chief secretary to draw up a plan to implement two working shifts at the Mantralaya and explore which government departments can run at full capacity with employees working from home. Mumbai city on Tuesday reported 643 new cases, taking the cumulative COVID-19 tally to 3,20,532. Eight more deaths pushed the city's toll to 11,454. The active cases stand at 7,536. BMC Commissioner IS Chahal has said that they are taking steps to educate people about the importance of wearing face masks and following physical distancing norms. Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar also visited Dadar market to create awareness.
