Dad George was landlord of the Lord Nelson, in Colchester
OUR pub nostalgia pieces brought back memories for reader Derek Rayner. The 74-year-old has a strong family connection with one of Colchester's watering holes as his dad ran the Lord Nelson, on Hythe Hill. He was landlord in the years after the Second World War. All smiles - Mr Rayner's brother, Brian, daughter Kim (left) and wife Jo won an award during their time running the Castle Inn, at Ramsey Mr Rayner junior, who lives in Stanway, was just one when his dad took over and the family moved on when he was 15. He said: "I also have aunties and uncles who ran pubs in Colchester.
