Mutt of the Week: Big Head This past weekend, Underdog Animal Rescue and Rehab went to the Red Mesa Chapter on the Navajo Nation to host a free spay and neuter and low cost vaccination clinic. As soon as our staff settled into the chapter house, this week’s mutt showed up wagging his tail and looking for affection. As the clinic started, the pup we nicknamed Big Head went with our volunteers to each car to help get folks registered and checked in. He was starting to cause a ruckus though. He loved to taunt the dogs in the cars and got very excited when cats were brought in to be spayed and neutered so Underdog kenneled him in the volunteer area. ....
Mutt of the Week: Cracker Jack This past weekend, our Mutt of the Week went for a wildflower hike with the Underdog Animal Rescue and Rehab team and friends from the Canyonlands Field Institute. Once she arrived at the trailhead, Cracker Jack became a crowd favorite. Cracker Jack was friendly and excited to meet anyone that passed the group on the trail and was good at leading the group to shade to relax. Sometimes dogs need a break from outside the shelter walls to show their true personality. We do our best to place those that need extra attention into foster care, but walks, hikes, and off-ranch activities also give Underdogs a break and a time to relax and get some good one-on-one cuddle sessions in. If you work from home or work in a dog friendly place, consider fostering for just the day or taking a pup on a hike: There are lots of ways to get involved with Underdog to both make you and the pup feel good. ....
