Medical experts are warning the uninsured could eventually be turned away from COVID coverage if medical expenses keep rising.

But the virus is not contained. Safety-net hospitals and clinics are seeing sharply higher costs for basic operating expenses. They fear they won’t be prepared if there’s another surge and no backstop.
