Flagler College s Dr. Lori Lee (Department of Humanities), alongside James Davidson of University of Florida and Liz Ibarrola of University of Texas at Austin (Co-Project Investigators), have been working on an archaeology research project at Fort Mose. They recently finished their third field season at the historically significant site, which was the first legally sanctioned free Black town in the present-day United States and is a critically important site for Black American history. Five Flagler field school students assisted, where they immersed themselves in what the lives of the multicultural community who lived and worked at Fort Mose from 1752-1763 were like. ....
