Percy thrower was god, and everybody watched every friday without question. And if percy showed a plant on his programme, then by 10am the next day, they would be sold out across the country. In 50 years, there are a number of personalities who have made their name on gardeners world, including Geoff Hamilton, whose garden, barnsdale, was one of the eight gardens used over the years.
