IATF approves vaccine priority group A4

THE Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases has approved Priority Group A4 of the national deployment and vaccination plan to address the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
In a resolution approved on Thursday, April 15, 2021, the frontline workers in the following sectors are included in Group A4, in order:
Commuter transport (land, air, and sea), including logistics;
Public and private wet and dry market vendors, groceries, supermarkets and delivery services;
Manufacturing for food, beverage, medical and pharmaceutical products;
Food retail, including food service delivery;
Private and government financial services;
Hotels and accommodation establishments; ....

However, it is hoped the vaccine target could be brought forward with a rapid expansion of the vaccine programme expected soon.
Vaccines Minister Nadhim Zahawi told MPs this week he was expecting tens of millions of doses to come through , leading to a rapid increase in the number of people being vaccinated.
The UK is expected to receive a number of vaccine doses from US company Moderna this month.
So far, three Covid vaccines have been approved in the UK including the Pfizer/BioNTech and Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccines, which have already been rolled out.
Further vaccines are expected to be approved and rolled out over the coming months as well, adding to the UK’s vaccine total. ....

Vaccine timeline: Rollout extension imminent - when will I get the jab? Age groups in full


Currently, the NHS is in the process of vaccinating the top six priority groups, as outlined by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation.
These groups include all people over the age of 64 as well as care home residents and staff, health workers and people considered clinically extremely or clinically vulnerable.
Before April 30, the Government is aiming to vaccinate everyone from groups one to nine on the JCVI priority list.
Groups seven to nine include people over the age of 50.

The UK is currently in the midst of vaccinating the top nine priority groups on the JCVI priority list and nearly 18 million people have now been vaccinated against COVID-19. The last group on the list, before the rest of the population, is the over 50s. The Government is aiming to vaccinate the top nine priority groups by the end of April, before moving to vaccinate the entire population by July 31. However, a priority list for the under 50s has not been published to date. ....
