DANVILLE, Va. — Danville resident Rickey Surgeon launched a Black-owned haute couture millinery hat brand and LLC during the COVID-19 pandemic. The business is located in Danville.
Surgeon, owner and chief designer, is described as one of the region’s most unique millinery designers by his peers and growing clientele.
Surgeon is a graduate of the acclaimed Art and Fashion Institute of Atlanta. He honed his skills while studying Fashion Illustration and Visual Communications in the eighties in the fashionable upscale district of Buckhead. His dream was to follow in the footsteps of famed fashion illustrator Antonio Lopez whose works featured in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and other distinguished trade fashion publications. ....
