Majors when im back in ten. New from overnight in philadelphia, police and fire crews were forced to shut down a part of broad street after a car burst into flames following an accident. Nbc 10s matt delucia is live on the scene in the citys nicetown section. Tell us what happened. This stretch of broad street is pretty quiet in the middle of the night. Ill tell you what happened here. Philadelphia police tell us a car was going south at wyoming, hits the median, goes out of control and hits two cars on the other side of the road from where we are. The car ends up in the middle of broad street and bursts into flames. Take a look at this video that was obtained by nbc 10 here. This is what it looked like moments after crash. One officer described this as a fireball. It happened just after midnight. One of the officers from the 39th district happened to be driving down broad at the same time that this happened. Rail will return to normal some time in october. Its been a long couple of months for them or at least month any way for rail commuters when a third of its septa fleet was side lined because of manufacturing defects. For the thousands of passengers each day, what that meant jam packed trains, delays, a modified train schedule, frustration. Septa today says after some final fatigue testing is done on these trains, repair cars should be showing up on the rails by the end of the month theyll roll out 10 per week through september and then october the rail system should be back to normal schedule. Officials say they want to make sure the fix is the right one. Were going to work, you know, as hard as we can to get the cars back, um, but in the end, um, you know, safety is has to be the top value and so to not have had any kind of, you know, derailment or issue that could have resulted in a loss of life or even injuries is, you know, thats a great thing.
