Lake Compounce giving 60-foot waterslide a makeover as it readies for summer

When the Connecticut weather is quite a bit warmer, Lake Compounce will have a new way for its guests to beat the heat: Storm Surge.

Lake Compounce to debut updated water slide, new eatery

Bristol amusement park Lake Compounce has revamped its lighthouse water slide attraction for visitors this summer.

The enclosed slide, now known as “Storm Surge,” will feature 30 changing color lights, four speakers and “new thrills,” designed to create a more immersive and engaging experience, park officials said.

Lake Compounce is also opening a new eatery, the Lakeside Café, next to the Venus Vortex water slide over the Memorial Day weekend. The café will serve chicken tenders, fries, salads, hamburgers and veggie burgers.

A beer-and-food festival and new water slide make their debuts over the next week as part of Lake Compounce’s bid to bring back crowds after its pandemic hiatus.

The first Bites and Pints Food & Drink Festival offers craft beer and food from local chefs and will recur every weekend through June at the Bristol amusement park.
