COMMENTARY: Leverage first-party data to power highly personalized customer experiences

COMMENTARY: Leverage first-party data to power highly personalized customer experiences

ATLANTA -
Automotive marketers, dealers and lenders today are focusing their customer engagement strategies on data more than ever. However, how — and what — data can be leveraged requires close attention.
Google has announced plans to stop tracking cookies in its Chrome browser by 2022. And, Apple has announced that, as part of the iOS 14 update, it will give users the choice to block the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) at the app level — requiring apps to ask users for permission to collect and share data.
These changes, coupled with evolving regulations, require marketers, publishers and media buyers for auto and across all industries to have a clear position on first, second and third-party data.

Polar Vortex is fading away for summer, but leaves cool air in its die-off

Polar Vortex is fading away for summer, but leaves cool air in its die-off
Updated Apr 29, 2021;
The Polar Vortex has weakened over the past two weeks, and is now in its last stage before disappearing for summer. But the final die-off is having an opposite effect of what you might think happens in the last days of the Polar Vortex.
Here is a forecast animation showing the stronger Polar Vortex quickly weakening. The Polar Vortex is more easily visible at the beginning of this animation, which is April 29. As the circulation around the Polar Vortex weakens, we can see the stretching of the vortex to an area covering Alaska to the Great Lakes by May 10. It might be easier for you to spot the Polar Vortex by looking for the darker blue circular area in northern Canada.

Polar Vortex forecast shows winter is 'heading for the exits'

Polar Vortex forecast shows winter is ‘heading for the exits’
Updated Mar 17, 2021;
The Polar Vortex forecast over the next two weeks is showing the weakening that usually leads to a final warming and disappearance of the Polar Vortex until next winter. At the same time, the Polar Vortex shows one sign of being able to deliver one last blast of cold.
Judah Cohen, Climatologist at AER, A Verisk Business, has studied the Polar Vortex and long-range forecast for over 20 years. He says the Polar Vortex is ‘heading for the exits.’ Cohen cautions though that he sees one Polar Vortex condition that could bring one last bout of colder than normal temperatures. Cohen calls this condition a ‘stretching of the Polar Vortex.’ The stretching is slightly indicated by computer modeling to occur over the next two weeks. When Polar Vortex stretching occurs, Cohen says cold air can move from Siberia across the North Pole and into eastern Canada.
