repel rivals with frantic war preparation moves. iran announces the country's supreme leader has pardoned more than 22 hours people in his country, arrested in the recent antigovernment protest. an official says those pardoned had not committed theft or violent crimes. a human rights group says at least 530 people may have died in the those demonstrations. and this is a live look at tokyo. one of the big stories there tonight, japan drops its mandatory mask-wearing requirement after three years; however, most commuters exiting tokyo's main train station this morning they were still wearing the masks as they headed to work. dropping the mask-wearing request is one of the last steps japan's government is taking in easing covid-19 restrictions in public places as it tries to expand business and other activity. just some of the other stories beyond our borders tonight. we'll be right back. ♪
