warren for a long time. i grew up in chinatown at a time when the city was not as welcoming to chinese as it is today. i grew up remembering stories of how two drunken sailors beat up my great-grandfather and left him in a wheelchair for the rest of his life and other stories even more terrifying of an era not that long ago when chinatown was a ghetto. when i returned to chinatown to do community work, i brought with me some of those memories and perspectives, until i met warren hellman. he opened my eyes to the rest of san francisco. at the same time, he respected where i came from....
