Nobel official did not name South Korean president as contender for peace prize
As speculation mounted in early October about the winner of the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize, South Koreans began sharing a false claim that a top Nobel official had tipped President Yoon Suk Yeol as a "leading contender" during a seminar in the United States. But footage of the event shows Norwegian Nobel Committee vice-chair Asle Toje made no mention of Yoon, and the committee's secretariat has told AFP it never divulges the names of nominees.
