from msnbc headquarters in new york. welcome everybody to alex reports. we begin with breaking news in former president s donald trump s hush trial. donald trump will sit down via news with a u.s. probation officer. this is according to three sources. we have vance a attorney she s also an mnbc legal analyst. what more do we know about this interview? thank you, alex. nbc news has learned from three independent sources mr. trump will appear tomorrow morning we believe via zoom for his investigative presentencing report. he will be meeting with a probational officer who will be on the tenth floor of 100 center street in manhattan. s that is where he appeared for six weeks for his criminal trial and he will be intervowed. interviewed. this is a highly unusual situation doing this over zoom versus in person. but they found it s the best way possible because of the security involved. we saw the intense security involved during his former trial. that would have to be aga ....
After that. again, all things are possible, but it seems likely that at a minimum that particular testimony had a big impact on the grand jury. harris: an impeachment witness for michael cohen, because we know michael cohen to be someone who has criminally lied. right. michael cohen said i never waived attorney/client privilege. costello said, wait, here it is, here s michael cohen s signature. he said five or six grand jury members were nodding in affirmation as he spoke. this is information they had not heard. the prosecution was not displaying this. we ll see what this means. i hope this grand jury delay. i hope it means they are really taking in the idea of not indicting the former president. i won t hold my breath with bragg. the corner stone of our justice system is justice. you remember how hillary clinton was under investigation for her e-mails. ....
harris: what s interesting, too, about this for both of you, and everybody really, but both of you on this legal point. when the former da here in new york city, when the justice department and even in his employ as well alvin bragg passed on the initial case many years ago. they were saying similar things about that case. hush money isn t technically against the law in the state. it was already filmsy. that s the perfect word. they then went to this next level, campaign. tried to bring some other things into it. why do all of that flexing? are some of those who are watching this correct when they say this is purely politics? that s been a lot of the drum beat from republicans. as you saw in that montage, this is a political fantasia ....
Some novel offense. that just does not inspire confidence. people see that as weaponizing the justice system. harris: it s interesting. they didn t take risks with the answers in terms of supporting trump. that s not what i heard there. what they said is basically taking a look at this almost forensically and say what else would alvin bragg do other than go after republicans when he can t get his own democratic led senator in gear? we say that. we re not running. and other people say that. i think it s interesting that they are at that dance. i love that you liken it to a fight. when you meet trump and you know he was your boss. one thing you walk away knowing about that former president is, he likes to fight. some people get into the fight because they like to fight. i don t know if those gentlemen have that. i don t know that about ron desantis because i haven t seen him fight as har as he s going ....
After wish they want under any circumstances. harris: when you say they, you mean democrats who would want this. when i say him, i mean alvin bragg. he knows better because he s already looked at this case. it boggles my mind whether or not there will be an indictment at all. tammy, i see you nodding over there. the idea of politics playing a role in this. does this help alvin bragg even if there s no indictment? if he loses the case, whatever happens, does this help him? the democrats are always focused on winning a news cycle. they look at it from news cycle to news cycle. you see all if bad news for joe biden, for democrats. the banking crisis. china s meeting with russia. they re having a party. the world is crumbling a bit. this is a great distraction. it also proves trump s point and the point of many americans certainly tens of millions of them. that our system is geared to go ....
