Fortunately, there is still a bank that believes in providing good basic banking services to customers.
It is not possible to advertise its name in this letter, but it shares the same name as a free daily newspaper

We will fight to protect land for deer
A Romford resident, full name and address supplied, writes:
Oh deer! Once again, Havering takes the surgeon’s knife to Harold Hill.
It seems enough is NOT enough when it comes to the removal of much loved and used green space which has been a blessing to so many over the last year. It seems bursting-at-the-seams doctors’ surgeries are, in fact, not bursting at the seams and it seems, the deer population has a low cash value.
That value is packaged up as a very important parcel of land off Priory Road and a pivotal crossing point for the many wild stags and does who use it to access from the Manor to the fields around Harold Hill, driving a diversity of wildlife that is enjoyed by all residents and visitors.   ....

David Adams, Barking, writes:
About six years ago, you wrote an article about my father Don Adams, who retired after 56 years in his North Street, Romford, barber’s shop.
Sadly, Dad passed away on January 3, another victim of Covid-19. He was 85.

Letter: Raphael Park joggers ignore social distancing

Ray Emery says some joggers in Raphael Park are not observing social distancing

Joggers ignoring social distancing
Is it safe to mix walkers and joggers together in Raphael Park?
I walk with my wife there and the footpaths are quite narrow, social distancing is possible.
However the joggers do not think social distancing is applicable to them and rush past almost brushing shoulders and exhaling huge plumes of breath over everybody.
They do not obey the 1 metre + rule and are becoming something of a menace to the other park users who for the most part are obeying the rules for public safety.  ....

Thank you to staff of renal unit and market traders
Mrs Mary Bryan, Havering Road, Romford, writes:
This Christmas has been different but it has made us all more aware to support the hungry, the homeless, those alone and those in need.
It has been different but, nevertheless, many people have worked hard to keep things as normal as possible.
I would especially like to thank all the staff at the renal unit at King George Hospital, Goodmayes. My husband needs to attend three times a week and we are so grateful for the care and dedication of the drivers and all the doctors and nurses at the unit. ....
