Woodward Reveals Rangers Thoughts On Rotation & Lineup Will the Texas Rangers use a six-man rotation this year? Manager Chris Woodward shed some light on it in his Zoom call with the media on Saturday morning. Author: Mar 6, 2021 The Texas Rangers have been toying around with the idea of a six-man rotation this season. However, it doesn't seem like it's the direction they will inevitably choose. The Rangers have around a dozen candidates for their starting rotation in 2021. Kyle Gibson, Kohei Arihara and Mike Foltynewicz are locks. After that trio, everything gets dicey. Veteran Jordan Lyles ...

Mar 4, 2021 After the Texas Rangers' 5-3 victory over the San Diego Padres on Thursday, there is no longer any debate of who is the hottest hitter in camp. Joey Gallo annihilated a fifth-inning pitch from Brady Feigl over the berm in right-center field for a three-run homer to propel the Rangers to their first Cactus League win of 2021. It was his third home run of the spring — the same number of games in which he has played — to go along with seven RBI. "It's always nice to get off to a start like that in spring training," Gallo said. "I'm just trying to work on the things I did in the o...

Good morning, LSB. Evan Grant has a really good piece up about the very tough year, on and off the field, for one Willie Calhoun. Both the FWST’s Jeff Wilson and the DMN’s Sam Blum have posts on third base being about the only possible spot on the team for Rougned Odor, but, as has been much discussed, there’s big questions about if he has the arm for it. Wilson also has a story up on another possible 3B fill-in, Stephenville native Brock Holt. Kennedi Landry has the full slate of pitchers due to take the mound over the first four games of the Rangers’ ST schedule, starting with lefty...

Feb 26, 2021 Texas Rangers manager Chris Woodward has announced the first four starters when Cactus League action begins Sunday. When the Rangers and Royals meet at Surprise Stadium, Wes Benjamin will be the first to take the ball for Texas. "He's started for us. He's been here. He absolutely deserves it," Woodward said. In reality, getting the nod to start the first game of Cactus League action isn't a true revelation of how the rotation will look come April 1 when the games count. Benjamin will only pitch one inning, which is not uncommon for the first several games of the spring.

Feb 22, 2021 With full squad workouts now underway in Surprise, the Texas Rangers are gearing up for Cactus League action beginning on Sunday afternoon. Here is the latest out of Rangers camp in Arizona - featuring an addition to the pitching staff. Rangers Roster Moves After being designated for assignment last Tuesday, RHP Jimmy Herget has been assigned outright to Triple-A Round Rock. He will remain in major league camp. Another addition to big league camp is 2020 first-round pick Justin Foscue, who was added as a non-roster invitee on Sunday. The 21-year-old second baseman was selected 14...
