Floodwaters on the Ottawa River are expected to peak and begin slowly dropping over the next several days, but until that happens, residents continue to deal with flooded properties.
As water levels stabilize along the Ottawa River through the national capital region, a boating ban has been issued for the Quebec side of the Ottawa River.
There’s something else absent now, though, at least regarding the response to the currently rising Ottawa River levels: the flood of volunteers. They just aren’t there in the numbers they once were.
Dan Larrivée, who lives in Cumberland, is using his canoe to commute.
“My wife works in Rockland, and I have to take her over; she starts at (9 a.m.) And she’s just started her job like last week, so she didn’t want to miss it,” he said.
