Explosive growth and understaffing lead to long lines and near-misses
Austin-Bergstrom has started the next transformative ‘Journey With AUS’ expansion project – the West Infill and TSA Checkpoint 3 Expansion.
Austin, Texas, airport representatives said the $16 million project will add more TSA checkpoint lanes, a new baggage delivery system and ticket counters.
A security checkpoint at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is now closed to make way for improvements and expansion of the terminal.
Checkpoint 3 temporarily closed on Feb. 5 and won't reopen until 2026.
