The Memorial Day parade returns Monday and the route takes it along Route 13/Bristol Pike as from Suzuki Fun Center to Mill Road.

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) - Design and permitting plans are in the works to make part of Summerville safer for pedestrians.
A viewer reached out to Live 5 News with the following concern:
âThe fact that there is no sidewalk on [North Hickory Street]. Completely unsafe and irresponsible considering itâs right by the community center.Iâve reached out to city council members and the mayor for an update and cannot get a response.â ....

SUMMERVILLE âÂ In 1977, a group of local actors purchased a condemned downtown movie theater and turned it into a performing arts space.
Now home to the nonprofit theater group the Flowertown Players, the organization has gone from aiming for one of its more successful show seasons to restructuring to survive the COVID-19 pandemic.
Like other groups and businesses, the Summerville arts community has been hit hard with a pandemic thatâs put a halt to one of its biggest revenue streams â live events.
At the James F. Dean Theatre about this time last year, Flowertown Players was selling out all of its holiday shows in a building that seats 200. Only 40 guests can be in the building now. ....

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Despite many holiday celebrations around the Lowcountry being canceled due to the pandemic, the show still went on for others Sunday.
The annual Mount Pleasant parade had fewer participants, organizers asked people to wear masks, put out social distancing signs, and streamed the event online.
“We had no hand-to-hand contact between participants and spectators this year which people are used to getting lots of candy and stuff handed to them,” Mount Pleasant Special Events Manager Nicole Harvey said. ....
