Westport High School prepares for final days at old building

WESTPORT — The junior/senior high school building in September for the first time in over 70 years will not be active with students.
But school leaders are making sure that this building goes out with a bang and not a whimper.
The school district in September will open a new grades 5 through 12 school building on Old County Road. Officials are uncertain about the future of the current high school building on Main Road, which educates students right now in grades 7 through 12.
"We have several fun activities planned to end the year here at WJSHS. These include an ice cream social, a Grade 8 promotion parade and cookout, senior breakfast, and the final Westport Junior Senior High School graduation from this building," said Principal Laura Charette.
