Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) announced plans to construct a new military base in the border town of Eagle Pass, Texas, as a large number of immigrants attempt to come into the United States around that location. This base would be for Texas National Guardsmen, who have been nearby setting up barbed wire fences at the
Gov. Kevin Stitt (R-OK) declared his support for Texas "to defend our country against invasion" by promising to send National Guardsmen.
As blue cities like New York City and Chicago suffer under the strain of the invasion, Republicans will never have a better chance to force a funding fight — and real changes — with the Biden administration.
The request, aired by Republican Congressman Juan Ciscomani Thursday, comes as the Tucson Border Sector grapples with a significant increase in migrant traffic.
"CBP is aware of reports that criminal organizations in the El Paso, Texas / Juarez, Mexico areas are spreading falsehoods and putting migrants' lives at risk for their own financial gain," a statement read.
