On 3 August 2022, the Nigerian government decided to come hard on broadcaster Trust TV five months after they aired a documentary exposing the growing attacks of armed bandits across the country. Through the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), the broadcast industry regulator, the government imposed a fine of N5 million (around $12,000) for running the documentary.
