Forklift operator Bill Rummel had no idea that the crate he took home to Medford from Logan contained the valuable painting. Once it was hidden under his stairs, he couldn't figure out to return it and avoid punishment.
The Maine native who took the painting schemed with his father and brother to secretly return it, according to a story published by the New York Times.
