Rochdale News | News Headlines | The Women of Whitworth host wellness weekend


The Women of Whitworth (WoW) Project held a virtual Wellness Weekend event on 15-16 May.
WoW co-founder Liz Prior and funding advisor Naomi Kenyon organised the weekend, which coincided with Mental Health Awareness Week, including lots of online taster sessions for residents: Pilates, yoga, tai chi, street dance, top tips for pain management and posture, nutritious cooking, journaling, mindfulness colouring, eco crafts and more.
Each resident received a wellness pack with details of support services available to them locally and some treats to encourage healthy living.
 
 
Kimberley Ashworth, founder of The Women of Whitworth Project, said: “It’s been a really difficult 13 months for everyone. With this event, we wanted to provide an opportunity to relax and enjoy a number of fun sessions, whilst remaining covid-safe. We had a real mix of singles, couple and whole families taking part. ....

Healthwatch Rochdale staff member and volunteer recognised for positive work during Covid-19

A Healthwatch Rochdale staff member and a volunteer have both been officially recognised for their positive work during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Naomi Kenyon, Healthwatch Rochdale Volunteer and Involvement Officer, and a local volunteer, has received a letter from The High Sheriff of Lancashire thanking her for her work on behalf of the people of Lancashire during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Naomi created and made up Bags of Happiness  for older people living in isolation or with a life-long condition in the Whitworth area. With the help of local businesses and a grant from both Whitworth Community Partnership and Alpo, Naomi created bags loosely based on the five ways to wellbeing - connect, be active, take notice, learn, and give. ....
