New Tricks From Quicks Hole

Learning new tricks—this is one of my very favorite parts of cooking with professional chefs. When Sarah Dufour, executive chef at Quicks Hole Tavern in Woods Hole, came to Highfield recently, this was certainly the case. Sarah had thoughtfully prepared a menu that was “pandemic-friendly” in that everything was served in small, individual portions, from the small lobster rolls to the flourless cake bites.
Sarah was trained at the Culinary Institute of Charleston, though she grew up in New Orleans. “My grandfather was Cajun, and he taught my father to cook,” she explained. “I learned a great deal from my father, including Cajun traditions and legends.”

Food4Vets pickup Saturday at BHS
Barnstable High School parking lot will serve as the new distribution site for Food4Vets family food pickup on Saturdays going forward.
Having met with Town Manager Mark Ells and BPS Supt. Meg Mayo-Brown, Rep. Kipp Diggs (D-Hyannis) made the announcement by phone Monday, saying volunteers are committed to extending availability of critical emergency food supplies.
The Massachusetts Military Support Foundation partnered with 4Cs' West Barnstable campus to launch the initiative last fall. The drive-thru pickup then moved to the Hyannis Transportation Center, "which is about to get really busy" as the Cape Cod RTA ramps up summer service, Diggs said.

Richard Scali, licensing director for the Town of Barnstable for the past decade, today announced his retirement, effective March 18.
"I've been working in this industry for 35 years," Scali told members of the Barnstable Licensing Authority on Monday. "You are the most professional, knowledgable board I’ve ever worked for. To me, you're an example of a great board/commission in the Town of Barnstable. I will miss all of you immensely."
Scali said the job opening has been posted, and that. David Anthony is overseeing the search for his successor.

So long 2020
The Osterville Village Library bids farewell to 2020 and welcomes the New Year with its “Winter Wishing Walk” located on the library green. No timetable; just stop by the outdoor decorative maze in search of the angel bell located at the center. Find the bell, and ring it loud and clear as you make your wish for 2021.
Take a walk in the night air to see the holiday lights in the village and make a wish for health and happiness! Pay your respects to former Town Council President Jim Crocker at Armstrong Kelley Park, which held a tree lighting ceremony in his memory on Dec. 11.
