Griffin, who have a combined 71 years of experience serving on the College of Lake County board, got a proper send-off at their final board meeting on Tuesday night. Both men s experience at the college dates back to the 1970s, when they were students attending class in temporary trailers. Both Anderson and Griffin elected not to seek additional 6-year terms in the spring election.
That we are now here with a $110 million-plus budget; that we have now 1,200 employees, three major campuses, Griffin said, it s just rewarding to have played a part in that. ....

Updated 2/26/2021 7:37 PM Construction has begun on College of Lake County s long-stalled $48 million project to build a new six-story building and renovate existing buildings on its Waukegan campus, the state announced Friday. The new 62,692-square-foot building will be called the Student Center and will house support services, a library, a welcome center and a career placement office. The top floor will be a community space with uninterrupted views of Lake Michigan. ....

(College of Lake County) WAUKEGAN – The Illinois Capital Development Board (CDB) today announced construction has begun on the new Student Services/Adult Education Building on the College of Lake County Lakeshore Campus in Waukegan, Illinois. The $48 million project is moving forward thanks to Governor Pritzker s bipartisan Rebuild Illinois capital plan, the first in nearly a decade. The State of Illinois is funding $35.3 million of the project with the remainder covered by local matching funds. CDB will oversee the project s design and construction under the protocol for state-appropriated capital projects and has selected George Sollitt Construction Company as the low bid construction company for the project. ....
