Going skiing in the Alps this winter? Make sure to bring snow chains if you're travelling by car and, equally important, know how to fit them to your tyres to avoid an accidental end to your holiday. In several European countries, including Austria, Germany and Italy, it's mandatory to fit snow chains once you see a blue sign showing a tyre covered in chains.
