ટોકિયો ખાતે જુલાઈ, ૨૦૨૧માં યોજાનાર ઓલિમ્પિક ૨૦૨૦માં ભાગ લેનાર ગુજરાતના ૬ ખેલાડીઓના માતા- પિતાનું સંસ્કારધામમાં સન્માન કરાયું હતું. સંસ્કારધામની પૂર્વ વિર્દ્યાિથની એલાવેનિલ વલારિવન (શૂટિંગ ચેમ્પિયન), પારુલ પરમાર (પેરા બેડમિંગ્ટન ચેમ્પિયન), ભાવના પટેલ ટેબલ (પેરા ટેનિસ ચેમ્પિયન), સોનલ પટેલ (પેરા ટેબલ ટેનિસ ચેમ્પિયન), અંકિતા રૈના (ટેનિસ ખેલાડી ચેમ્પિયન), માના પટેલ (સ્વીમિંગ ચેમ્પિયન)નાં માતા-પિતાના સન્માન સમારોહનું આયોજન કરાયું હતું.
શાળાના વાઈસ પ્રેસિડેન્ટ મહેન્દ્ર ભટ્ટ દ્વારા એલાવેનિલ વલારિવન અને અંકિતા રૈનાના માતા-પિતાનું શાલ ઓઢાડી અને મેમેન્ટો આપીને જ્યારે અન્ય ખેલાડીઓના માતા- પિતાનું વર્ચ્યુઅલ સન્માન કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું.
ઓલિમ્પિક ગેમ્સ- ટોકિયો, ૨૦૨૦માં ભાગ લેનાર ભારતીય ખેલાડીઓની સાથે વડાપ્રધાન નરેન્દ્ર મોદીએ વર્ચ્યુઅલ મીટિંગ કરીને તેમને પ્રોત્સાહિત કરીને શુભેચ્છા પાઠવી હતી.
આ સમગ્ર સન્માન સમારોહનું જીવંત પ્રસારણ શાળાના વંદના હોલમાં કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું. આ સન્માન સમારોહ કાર્યક્રમાં ટ્રસ્ટીઓ,આચાર્યગણ, સ્ટાફ વિદ્યાર્થીઓ, વાલીઓએ હાજરી આપી હતી.ઔ

સમલૈંગિકો અને કિન્નરોનું ધ્યાન રાખતાંx સુષમા દ્વિવેદી વૈવાહિક કારોબારના ક્ષેત્રમાં દુર્લભ છે. તેઓ કહે છે, અમેરિકામાં મહિલા પંડિતનું મળવું લગભગ અશક્ય છે. મારી જાણ મુજબ એવા દસ લોકો છે, જેમાંથી કોઈપણ સમલૈંગિકો અને કિન્નરોને પોતાની સેવા આપતા નથી. 2016માં મિસિસ દ્વિવેદીએ ન્યૂયોર્કમાં પર્પલ પંડિત પ્રોજેક્ટની શરૂઆત કરી હતી. આ સમલૈંગિકો માટે લગ્ન, બાળકોનું નામકરણ, ગૃહપ્રવેશ, વ્યવસાયની શરૂઆત જેવી ધાર્મિક સુવિધાઓ ઉપલબ્ધ કરાવે છે. તેમણે અત્યારસુધી 33 લગ્ન કરાવ્યાં છે, જેમાંથી લગભગ અડધાં સમલૈંગિકોનાં છે.

40 વર્ષનાં સુષમા ઓર્ગેનિક ફૂડ કંપની ડેઈલી હાર્વેસ્ટમાં કમ્યુનિકેશન અને બ્રાન્ડ માર્કેટિંગનાં વાઈસ- પ્રેસિડન્ટ છે. તેમનો ઉછેર કેનેડામાં થયો છે અને હવે હાર્લેમમાં રહે છે. તેમના પતિ 37 વર્ષના વિવેક જિંદલ ન્યૂયોર્કમાં વેલ્થ મેનેજમેન્ટ કંપની - કોરમાં મુખ્ય રોકાણ અધિકારી છે. તેઓ જણાવે છે, 2013માં મોન્ટ્રિયલમાં તેમનાં લગ્ન થયા હતા. મારા પતિના સગા સમલૈંગિક છે. તેમને લગ્ન કરવા હોય તો કોઈ પંડિત મળવાનો ન હતો. આ વાતે મને કંઈક કરવા માટે પ્રેરિત કરી.

લગ્નના બે મહિના પછી મેં યુનિવર્સિલ લાઈફ ચર્ચમાંથી ઓનલાઈન ધાર્મિક રીત-રિવાજ શીખ્યા. 2016માં મને ખબર પડી કે બિલ્ડિંગમાં અમે જે માળ પર રહીએ છીએ ત્યાં એક યુગલ લગ્ન કરવા માગતું હતું. મહિલા બાળકને જન્મ આપનારી હતી. તેઓ ઈચ્છતા હતા કે પ્રસૂતિ પહેલાં લગ્ન થઈ જાય. મેં કહ્યું કે જો તેમને કોઈ પાદરી મળતો નથી તો હું લગ્ન કરાવી શકું છું. તેઓ મારા રૂમમાં આવ્યા. દુલ્હનના વાળમાં ફૂલ લગાવાયા. મારા પતિએ ફોન પર લગ્નનું રેકોર્ડિંગ કર્યું. આ વીડિયો વાઈરલ થઈ ગયો.

સુષમા દ્વિવેદી જણાવે છે કે 2016 ચૂંટણીનું વર્ષ હતું. સમલૈંગિક સમુદાયના અધિકાર છીનવાઈ રહ્યા હતા. હું દરેક સાથે સમાનતાના પક્ષમાં હતી. આ રીતે પર્પલ પ્રોજેક્ટનો જન્મ થયો. સુષમા હિન્દુ પદ્ધતિથી લગ્ન માત્ર 35 મિનિટમાં કરાવે છે. ભગવાન ગણેશની પૂજા પછી યુગલના અગ્નિ ફેરા કરાવે છે.
