Mayor Eric Adams plans in his State of the City address to unveil a new push to place 30,000 New Yorkers into apprenticeship programs by 2030 in what would be a significant expansion of the city’s efforts.

The new policy, which Adams is expected to announce during his upcoming State of the City address Thursday, involves the creation of a so-called Apprentice Accelerator and aims to not only increase the number of apprenticeship postings, but also broaden the scope of those offerings to include more tech opportunities, like computer programming and information technology.
