SDG 14 calls for the conservation and sustainable use of the oceans. An important aspect of achieving this goal is the elimination of overfishing which occurs when too many fish are caught too quickly, without allowing time for the population to recover.

In a recent working paper, “Missing SDG Gender Indicators”, we examine coverage of gender data in the SDG monitoring framework and find that only a third of gender related SDG data are available. Moreover, we try to unpack what drives this lack of data.

SDG 11 aims to make cities and communities inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable. Cities today face the challenge of rising waste – particularly in the use of plastics – as populations grow and incomes rise.
