Intel's new Bleep software uses AI to censor hate speech

Card image cap

Have you ever wanted to censor a little hate speech while playing a game, but not all of it? Thanks to Intel’s Bleep, a software that uses AI to censor voice chat, you can.
Bleep was developed in partnership with a company called Spirit AI, and is currently in beta following a prototype developed two years ago. It uses AI to censor hate speech in real time during gameplay. The software “bleeps” out offending language (hence the name). The most recent iteration of the tech was shown off during an event highlighting Intel’s latest developments. During this presentation, Roger Chandler, vice president and general manager of client XPU products and solutions, positioned the company as “stewards” of PC gaming who feel some responsibility in moving the platform forward and “making gaming better.”

Too Many Desktop Eggs In One Cloud Basket?

But for all these Windows 10 remote desktops, past, present, and future, the path forward has one little problem. By being based primarily on Microsoft Azure, the next generation of Microsoft Graph — the Microsoft 365 application programming interface (API) — is also based on the Azure cloud. I mean it’s right there in the name, “Cloud PC.” And, that my friend, can prove to be a real pain.
Just ask all the poor devils who already depend on Azure Active Directory (AAD). On March 15, AAD went down and took with it Microsoft customers worldwide who’d been using Office 365, Dynamics, Teams, Xbox Live — the list goes on and on.

Paying with cryptocurrencies: These are the major companies that accept cryptos as payment

Card image cap

Cryptocurrencies are never far from the headlines these days. If it’s not news that the value of Bitcoin has breached a record high threshold of $60,000 (€50,500) for the first time, it’s news that Tesla founder Elon Musk is investing billions in it.
While buying and selling cryptos is becoming increasingly mainstream, the opportunities to spend virtual currencies is somewhat limited in comparison due to its volatility.
There are, however, a growing number of companies across a plethora of industries - from big tech to airlines - who are embracing cryptocurrencies, allowing customers to use them as an official method of payment for their goods and services.

How to get the Microsoft experience on a Chromebook

Source: Android Central
Once upon a time, to get the best experience for Microsoft services, you needed to buy a Windows laptop. If you were on a budget laptop with lower specs, though, performance was slow, all tasks were tedious, and your productivity suffered. These days, though, the best Chromebooks offer excellent performance and less maintenance at lower price points.
Thanks to the way Microsoft has worked to improve Microsoft apps and services across all platforms — from Macs to Android tablets to phones — you can still get most of the Microsoft goodies on a Chromebook. In fact, if you're on a tight computer budget, a Chromebook could be the best machine for Microsoft users — something even Microsoft acknowledges as it preps Windows 10X to better compete with Chrome OS.

Code defect behind Easter outage for Azure

Recovery time from overloading exceeded service goals.
Microsoft has published a root cause analysis of an outage of its Azure Domain Name System that struck the cloud platform over Easter, causing intermittent failures for customers accessing and managing their Microsoft services globally.
The problems started at around 8.30 am on April 2, when the Azure DNS servers received an anomalous surge in queries for an unspecified set of domains hosted on Microsoft's cloud.
Microsoft said it was ready for such surges, with layers of caches and traffic shaping to mitigate the effect, but a bug in its DNS service made the overloading worse.

in Brief It was a tsunami of DNS queries that ultimately took out a host of Microsoft services, from Xbox Live to Teams, for some netizens about an hour on April Fools' Day, Redmond has said.
Or as the Windows giant put it, the outage was the result of "an anomalous surge in DNS queries from across the globe targeting a set of domains hosted on Azure." In a postmortem examination of the downtime, Microsoft said the flood of requests triggered a programming flaw in its infrastructure that hampered its ability to cope with the demand:

Microsoft has kicked off the Xbox Spring Sale on the Microsoft Store, slashing the prices across a wide range of games on the console and PC store, but some users (myself included) have also been surprised by Microsoft Gift Cards from the company, with store credit to the tune of £8/$10.
The free store credit is not an across the board reward for all users, but is being handed out to users seemingly at random – they’ve done similar in the past. If you’re lucky, it will appear as a message from Xbox Live (mine arrived at 10PM last night) and can be used across Games, Add-ons and Movies on the Microsoft Store. If you’re on your console, you can redeem it right then and there, or you can head to Xbox.com/RedeemCode. Codes are valid for redemption until 30th April 2021, and must be spent within 90 days before they expire.

CISA instructs U.S. government agencies to use Microsoft patches and anti-malware tools

What you need to know
U.S. government agencies have suffered from vulnerabilities in Microsoft Exchange Server.
The attackers appear to be state-sponsored Chinese hackers.
CISA is instructing the use of Microsoft tools to secure infrastructure.
U.S. government agencies with on-site variants of Microsoft Exchange Server have been instructed by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) to use Microsoft patches and anti-malware tools to suss out any threats. All affected agencies are instructed to implement security hardening changes by June 28, 2021. The specific changes CISA is demanding can be read here.
This need for heightened security comes as a result of state-sponsored Chinese hackers taking advantage of security flaws to steal Exchange Server data. Microsoft has a blog post detailing some specifics of the hacker organization, which has been dubbed Hafnium. According to the post, though Hafnium is based in China, the group's members lease and use virtual private servers (VPS) in the U.S.
