Maine Nordiques use balanced approach in NAHL Entry Draft

There was no one specific need for the Maine Nordiques during the North American Hockey League’s Entry Draft on Wednesday, with the Nordiques instead selecting four defensemen, two forwards and a goaltender.
The team only made seven picks in the 20-round draft, with 23 players already on the organization’s 30-man protected list prior to the draft.
“We tried to add to our depth, acquire talent, we made picks for different reasons,” Maine Nordiques coach Nolan Howe said. “Whether it’s impact (players), whether it’s guys we want to see progress through the (Maine Nordiques) Academy. We utilized the draft in many different ways, depending on the situation.” ....

Twin City Thunder's Devon Bobak earns shutout against Philadelphia HC


Devon Bobak woke up ready to stuff pucks Tuesday morning.
The Thunder goalie stopped all 31 shots he faced as the Twin City Thunder defeated the Philadelphia Hockey Club in a USPHL National Collegiate Development Conference game at the Advent Ice Center in Wesley Chapel, Florida.
“He must of got up early, because he was dialed in,” Thunder assistant coach Cam Robichaud said. “He has been good; in his last five (starts), he has four wins. He has been definitely winning games for us. We have a great tandem; we are fortunate it could be either (Bobak or Connor Leslie) going in net for any given game .” ....

The New Hampshire Junior Monarchs scored six unanswered goals to defeat the Thunder 6-5 in overtime of a USPHL National Collegiate Development Conference game at the Advent Health Center Ice Rink in Wesley Chapel, Florida.
“You take it in, we are fine, it is what it is, it’s a learning experience,” Thunder NCDC coach Dan Hodge said. “I guess the bright spot is we have scored 11 goals in two games (this week). It’s unfortunate, the last two games, the Kings game and today, we had a letdown in the second period. We just have to clean that up.” ....
