GLOVERSVILLE Gloversville Housing Authority Executive Director Amanda Ossenfort is out of that position, effective Thursday.
GHA Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Brenda Leitt on Thursday afternoon verified the departure, but declined to say whether Ossenfort was terminated or simply resigned on her own.
“She is no longer employed,” said Leitt.
She said she had no other details to relate about her departure at this time, including who will be doing the GHA’s day-to-day duties now until a replacement is found. She said she “couldn’t say” who was administering the authority currently.
Leitt did say that the GHA Board of Commissioners will conduct an emergency meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the authority office at Dubois Garden Apartments. She said the meeting will be mostly a closed-door, executive session. ....

Johnstown Planning Board grants extension for project | News, Sports, Jobs

JOHNSTOWN The city Planning Board on Tuesday granted a one-year extension on a previously-approved project by Fulton Friendship House to build affordable housing development units off North Perry Street.
Board Chairman Peter K. Smith explained that the agency has a project at 507 N. Perry St.
“Today, we take up an extension,” he said.
Smith said the sale of vacant land for the housing was previously completed by the former owners of the John C. Miller auto dealership to Comet Properties.
“The project has not yet begun construction,” Smith said.
He noted that all the board’s approvals come with a one-year “sunset” provision and Fulton Friendship House didn’t get the project done in a previous timeframe since 2020. ....

GLOVERSVILLE – The Common Council is set Tuesday to consider a change to the city’s zoning ordinance that would allow for a temporary Code Blue homeless shelter to be established at a location somewhere other than the former YWCA building.
Mayor Vince DeSantis said he believes the city needs a temporary Code Blue shelter, but not where the nonprofit organization Center for Hope wants to operate it. The city is expected to set a public hearing to discuss the proposal.
“This ordinance change would list a Code Blue shelter as a permitted use in the commercial zone with a special use permit, however, it does not permit it in the form-based overlay,” DeSantis said. “The form-based overlay covers the center of the business district. The former YWCA is right in the middle of town, inside the form-based overlay.” ....
