Nigerian governor's aide, police officers, others arrested for vandalising railway tracks

The Special Adviser to the Governor of Nasarawa State on Infrastructure, Yusuf Musa, has been arrested for his alleged role in the vandalism of railway tracks.
This was announced by the Nasarawa State police commissioner, Bola Longe, while parading Mr Musa and other suspects at the Force Headquarters in Lafia on Thursday.
Mr Longe, in a press release obtained by
PREMIUM TIMES, said the suspects, including police officers, were nabbed following the intelligence information received by the command.
According to him, the suspects have “turned the Nigerian railway tracks that traverse some major cities and villages in Nasarawa State en route to Benue state to gold mines where they vandalise and cart away rail tracks.” ....

The Nasarawa State Police Command said it has arrested the Special Adviser on Infrastructure to Governor Abdullahi Sule and 16 others over the vandalisation of railway tracks and slippers in Lafia and Keana Local Government Areas of the state.
Commissioner of Police, CP Bola Longe, made the disclosure on Thursday in Lafia, while parading the suspects at the Force Headquarters.
He explained that the suspects had been in the business of buying and selling railway tracks and slippers from other suspected vandals but luck ran out of them when the Police Command got informed of the criminal act and mobilized for their arrest. ....

The Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Police Force said it has apprehended the Special Adviser on infrastructure to Governor Abdullahi Sule and Chinese national over the vandalism of railway tracks and slippers in Lafia and Keana local government areas of the state.
Also arrested were 66 suspected kidnappers and armed robbers, who “have been terrorising the citizen of the state and its environs”.
Parading the governor’s aide at the command headquarters on Thursday alongside other suspected kidnappers and armed robbers, the commissioner of Police, Mr. Bola Longe, said all the suspects were arrested through the command’s developed strategic anti-vandalism template. ....

Insecurity: Food crisis looms as farmers abandon farms in Benue, Nasarawa

These farmers have continued to lament their inability to go to their farms, especially at the onset of the rainy season.
