United Way of Onslow pledge thousands to local nonprofits

United Way of Onslow County presented checks on Thursday morning to local nonprofit programs as part of community investment.
This year marks the 66th year United Way of Onslow has supported local nonprofits through the Annual Giving Campaign, with this year pledging $165K to 13 local nonprofits supporting 19 programs in Onslow.
“We continue to invest in community partners who are addressing immediate relief for Onslow County, including access to food, shelter, healthcare, and emergency financial assistance and planning for the future through education, income, and health initiatives.”, said Raquel Painter, President of United Way of Onslow.
United Way hosted their partner agency’s executive directors and chairmen of the board of directors to breakfast on Thursday where they presented the checks. ....

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself. Are you from the area or do you have any connections to Onslow County? What are some things you would like the people of Onslow to know about you on a personal level?
I am a bit of an outdoor enthusiast, a terrible golfer, and married to an aspiring sommelier. I was born in Massachusetts, but we moved around quite a bit when I was growing up. Eventually, I settled down in Florida’s Tampa Bay area, where I met my wife, Krystal. This year will be our 10th wedding anniversary and mark 15 years together. We have been blessed to be able to travel, experience other cultures, and make friends all over the world. I earned my master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Florida. After spending 20 years in Florida, we moved to North Carolina to be closer to my immediate family. Onslow Community Outreach dental clinic grant $10,000

After being shut down by the pandemic, Onslow Community Outreach s Caring Community Dental Clinic was able to reopen for one month before a stroke of bad luck that is the year 2020 put them out of commission once again.
The clinic was given the ok to begin offering dental services to low-income, uninsured individuals at the beginning of September. By the start of October, their suction and compressor system had failed and at the time was too costly to fix, forcing the clinic to revert back to the drawing board.
As much Christmas cheer the outreach provides to the citizens of Onslow every year, this time it was their turn to recieve a little bit in the form of a $10,000 grant from Delta Dental Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Delta Dental of North Carolina. ....
