Comedian Tudur Owen and a group of twenty local hospice heroes showed their support for St David’s Hospice walking for over 10 hours as part of the Anglesey Coastal Trek. The event was initially planned for April 5 last year to coincide with the opening of the new Hospice satellite unit at Ysbyty Penrhos Stanley, Holyhead. It took place twelve months later on May 8. Originally a one-day walking event, it has now been rearranged for three separate days across 2021 ensuring government restrictions of a maximum 30 participants are followed. Led by Anelu Aim Higher, it followed a physically demanding twenty-mile route on the coastal path from Cemaes Bay to Moelfre. ....
North Wales Wildlife Trust were out at the popular tourist spot targeting all types of waste. Virginia got stuck in collecting discarded plastic and other refuse alongside the dedicated volunteers. Her involvement comes ahead of a beach clean Virginia is organising on 25th May as part of the Great Welsh Spring Clean event. “I love to get stuck in and help clean up our beautiful Anglesey so I didn’t hesitate to accept North Wales Wildlife’s kind invitation to take part,” she said. “Sadly, the amount of plastic cotton buds and amount of marine rope we found in a relatively small amount of time was terrible. ....
A SEA ZOO has resurrected plans for a £1million sustainable energy project. Anglesey Sea Zoo hopes to start work on the extension to their premises at Brynsiencyn, on the Menai Strait, at the end of this year. It would see a new eco-build dug into the field adjacent to the current business premises, which would use natural light and ground source heat with more than a mile of water pipe buried one metre beneath the surface. The pipe would be capable of transforming the winter chill of ground temperatures as low as 4 degrees to a tropical 35 degrees centigrade. Planning approval and project funding have been secured however the process has been delayed since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. ....
Frankie Hobro, owner of the Anglesey Sea Zoo A TOP North Wales attraction is resurrecting plans for an ambitious £1million sustainable expansion project. Anglesey Sea Zoo hopes to start work on the extension to their premises at Brynsiencyn, on the Menai Strait, at the end of this year. The eco-build project will double the current size of the facility, which lies on the Anglesey Coastal path in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with views across the Snowdonia mountain range.
