Oregon health officials announced six new coronavirus-related deaths on Wednesday as well as 989 new or presumptive cases, continuing the troubling upward trajectory seen across the state in recent weeks.
An hour before the public data release, Oregon Health Authority Director Patrick Allen told a House legislative COVID-19 subcommittee “there’s a fair amount of not-so-good news in our update this week.”
The bad news included that despite recent predictions it would be a week later Oregon could see 300 people hospitalized with the virus within the next few days. Last week, an Oregon Health & Science University predicted the state would hit that 300-patient threshold by May. ....

PORTLAND, Ore. (KTVZ)  COVID-19 has claimed eight more lives in Oregon, including Crook County s eighth death, raising the state’s death toll to 1,558, the Oregon Health Authority reported Wednesday.
OHA also reported 764 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19 as of 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, bringing the state total to 120,223 cases.
Wednesday’s case count is lower than anticipated because a server outage led to unscheduled database downtime Tuesday, OHA said. In addition, Wednesday’s Tableau updates will not include electronic laboratory reporting information from Tuesday. The agency said, We anticipate that electronic laboratory reporting information will be updated tomorrow (Thursday).   ....

Coronavirus in Oregon: State reports 764 new cases, 8 new deaths

The Oregon Health Authority on Wednesday reported 764 new confirmed or presumptive coronavirus cases and 8 more fatalities.
The agency said the case count was lower than expected because of a server outage that affected the state’s database. The count was expected to return to normal by Thursday, the state said.
After three weeks of declining case counts, that number rose by 17% for the week ending Sunday, though reported deaths dropped by 13 from the previous week, a 15% decrease. Still, December was by far the deadliest month of the pandemic in Oregon with nearly 470 fatalities. ....
