By Ryan Young COVID-19 vaccine intake for Yorkton and surrounding area has slightly increased over the past week. SHA Local Medical Health Officer Dr. Ashok Chhetri says about 68 percent have had their first dose while 42 percent is fully-immunized as of this week. It’s a small bump from about 66 percent of people receiving a first dose and about 31 percent fully-vaccinated from the previous week. For youth between the ages of 12 and 17, Dr. Chhetri says 47 percent have had one dose, while 3 percent is fully-vaccinated. For people between 18-and-29-years-old in the Yorkton area, Chhetri says about 48 percent received their first dose and 14 percent had their second dose. ....

Yorkton Health Centre outbreak declared over By Josh Sigurdson The COVID-19 outbreak at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre has finally been declared over. Interim Director of Acute Care for the Yorkton area, Janna-Lea Yawney, says the outbreak in the 1st East and West inpatient medical units was declared over on Wednesday (Mar. 10), by the local SHA Medical Health Officer, Dr. Ashok Chhetri. “We are extremely happy,” Yawney said. “That shows that all of the measures we implemented and put into place were beneficial and helped us work towards resolving any further viral transmission.” The medical units were on Saskatchewan’s outbreak list since January 19th and it had been several weeks since the last case was connected to the outbreak. ....
