Mid-Atlantic Recovery Center in Waynesboro is hosting an open house on Saturday, May 22.
Staff will be on hand to information on the center’s operations, and the Virginia Department of Health will be providing free Naloxone training, with free Naloxone for participants who complete training.
This event is open to the public.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a significant increase of drug overdoses in the United States. Experts attribute the rise or drug overdoses to social isolation, a side effect of recommendations to reduce the spread of this disease. ....

WAYNESBORO, Va. (WVIR) - Thereâs a new opioid treatment center in the Shenandoah Valley hoping to help people overcome their substance abuse disorder, and it just opened up this week.
The director says the phones are already ringing. After three solid years of hard work to get there, MARC (Mid-Atlantic Recovery Center) is now seeing patients.

A SAFETY campaign has been launched encouraging people to report nitrous oxide canisters after a rise in use of the dangerous substance across the Dudley borough.
Use of the psychoactive drug, which is commonly known as laughing gas, nos, whippits or hippie crack chargers, is on the rise, with the empty canisters frequently seen left behind in parks and open spaces.
Dudley Council is working alongside West Midlands Police to raise awareness of the dangers linked to taking the drug and is appealing for people to report where they are seeing canisters.
