Dry weather reduces the amount of forage available to bees, meaning beekeepers could need to buy more queens to restock hives.
Bee breeders say demand for new queens has been so intense that they have had to turn away prospective customers.

The recent removal of the chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), by reducing his tenure to just two years from four through an ordinance, has created a controversy and debate between two groups – those supporting outgoing chairman and his policies and those who support the policies followed by earlier leadership. In this debate, unfortunately the most important issue, which is the root cause of poor outcomes in higher education – the flawed system of governance – is completely left out.
Without delving into the ongoing controversy, in this article, I discuss some fundamental weaknesses in the governance of the HEC and public sector Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) which need to be addressed. In the second part of this two-part series, I propose to specify the reforms required to address such weaknesses and improve outcomes of higher education. ....

ISLAMABAD: National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) chief Asad Umar warned that the number of critical coronavirus patients was 57 per cent higher in the 24 hours leading to Friday than the first wave peak last year but insisted that the situation in hospitals was under control.
“Total number of critical care Covid patients on oxygen reached 5,360 yesterday (Thursday). This is 57 per cent more than the peak last June,” the planning minister said in a series of tweets as the country registered 131 fatalities and 5,112 infections in a single day. The positivity ratio was 10.41 per cent. ....

LAHORE: University of Management and Technology (UMT) President Ibrahim Hassan Murad met with President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi at Presidentâs House.
According to a press release, President Arif Alvi discussed various points with the UMT president mainly those surrounding the higher education and artificial intelligence. He appreciated the role of UMT in the field of education and paid homage to the educational services of UMT former Chairman late Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad.
