SHAWLANDS regulars are bound to spot a few familiar faces in a new Scotland-wide advertising campaign.
Traders from the South Side community are starring in a Scotland Loves Local promotion calling on shoppers to support local businesses.
And as the high streets fights back from the Covid-19 pandemic, the firm message is: It has never been more critical to choose local.
Ali Haider, who has owned Stalks and Stems Florist and Greengrocers on Pollokshaws Road for 21 years, is one of those who features.
He, like others, has noticed an increase in people supporting local shops since the first coronavirus lockdown last year - a habit he and his neighbours hope will continue. ....

Business urged to sign up to Scotland Loves Local loyalty card
Businesses across the country have already started signing up so they are ready to benefit as soon as customers can start spending them.
Kirsten Scott, co-director of The Guild Dumfries, who also runs design business Mala Interiors, believes the Covid-19 pandemic has led to greater appreciation of the part that local shops and services play in peoples’ lives.
“Now more than ever,” she says. “People are realising just how important local businesses are and how we need to be promoting and supporting them in order to regenerate our high streets. ....
