PLAYERS of a new local lottery have an extra incentive to take part this weekend – as well as cash prizes, one lucky winner will scoop £1000 in Currys PC World vouchers.
The Lucky Severn Community Lottery has been running for almost six weeks now, and has received a great amount of support from those within the community.
It is a weekly online lottery which gives players a chance to win up to £25,000 while supporting good causes and local voluntary groups in their community. For this Saturday’s draw there is also the chance to win a £1000 Currys PC World voucher.
Almost 2000 tickets have been sold which will currently raise £61,000 over the next 12 months for good causes in the Stroud district. ....

I’m a naturally optimistic person but I sat down to write this with a heavy heart. I said last week that hope was on the horizon with the vaccinations, and there is no question the pandemic will eventually come to an end. But this January is going to be tough.
We’re all tired and fed up but we need to keep going as it does make a difference. We must stick to the rules to keep the pressure off our NHS and save lives. And there are always small things that can brighten the day. ....

Stroud District Council launches new community lottery

A new online community lottery to benefit good causes is set to be launched by Stroud District Council this week.
The initiative is set to provide good causes and community groups with a simple and easy way to raise much needed funds.
Tickets for the Lucky Severn Community Lottery will cost £1 with 60p going towards local good causes, compared to just 28p in the pound for the National Lottery.
The draw will be weekly with a jackpot of £25,000 for a matching sequence of six numbers, other prizes being £2,000, £250, £25 or three free tickets.
There are two ways to take part in the Lucky Severn Community Lottery scheme. Stroud district good causes will be able to set up their own lottery page, and will receive 50p in every pound spent by players using this method. A further 10p in every pound will go into a general Stroud district good causes fund, with the remainder being put towards prizes, operating costs and VAT. ....
