By Travis Cleven Jun 28, 2021 | 9:48 AM The Wisconsin State Fair announced a few changes to this year’s fair in August. Due to more sanitation protocols and a decrease in staff and volunteers, the grounds had to change some things this year including reduced hours. The fair has decided to open at 11 am and close at 11 pm. This means that parking will begin at 10:30 am every day, but exhibit competitions that are scheduled before 11 am will proceed as is. Food vendors, shopping, and other events at the fair will remain closed until 11 am each day. Another change for this year’s event will be a cashless parking and admission system. The State Fair Park officials said in a press release, “To make entry more efficient and continue to prioritize safety, parking and admissions will be a cashless experience for fairgoers.” The office is encouraging people to purchase tickets online ahead of time to make things easier while entering the fairgrounds.

Credit: (AP Photo/Gregory Bull, File) File photo: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers detain a man suspected of being in the country illegally. The New Jersey Legislature on Thursday began considering whether to bar counties and private companies from entering into new contracts to house undocumented immigrants detained by federal officials. Advocates of a ban say that not only do these detentions rip families apart, but also, the conditions in some of the facilities are deplorable and inhumane. Further, the availability of beds in these facilities encourages U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials to be more aggressive in picking up and holding people for no reason other than they lack the legal status to be in the country.
