Picture: BBC I was surprised and delighted to see the recent BBC Countryfile programme which featured the newly declared Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the south bank of the River Stour, together with the follow-up article in last week’s Standard. Four years ago I took the opportunity to take an RSPB organised trip on the sailing barge Victor, along the Stour, from the Ha’peeny Pier at Harwich to Mistley Quay and back.
