Le Pen re-elected to lead Rassemblement National


France’s far-right party Rassemblement National has re-elected Marine Le Pen as its head for a second time at a congress in Perpignan on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Le Pen ally, 25-year-old MEP Jordan Bardella, was nominated as the party’s first vice-president. Bardella will become the party’s acting president during the fall, replacing Le Pen as she campaigns for the presidential elections set for April 2022.
Following the party’s poor showing in regional elections, Le Pen on Wednesday called for voters to “mobilise” in the face of “the programmed [migratory] submersion of Europe.”
On Friday, Le Pen published a joint declaration with 15 European allies aiming at forming a “grand alliance in the European Parliament.” ....
